Tammy, January 2020 (very slightly NSFW)

I'd worked with Tammy once before, back in 2016 (see pics here - she's the third model), and we'd kept in touch and always talked about working together again without it actually happening. As I had some spare time over the Christmas/New Year break, we managed to find a day that worked for both of us and had a really positive session. I actually went into this more prepared than I have been for any other model shoot - I actually had a clear plan of things I wanted to to, the look I was trying to achieve. OK, it wasn't original - I'd just come across the photographer Noell Oszvad via Black & White Photography magazine and thought there was something we could work on there. We also discussed trying something with some gauze - which actually ended up with the gauze wrapped right round Tammy's head. I thought it worked quite well - really not my normal sort of thing, but...

Ezku – December 2019

As I had some time off over Christmas, I planned to head down to Cumberland Basin to further explore the concrete structures and harbour structures. As it happened, I saw on Purpleport that a Bristol-based model was looking for someone to take some portrait & fashion shots for their portfolio - so I suggested we could meet at Cumberland Basin and do some shots. So we did.Although as it turned out, it was heavily foggy that morning - and cold - but actually I thought this led to some interesting and atmospheric portraits. Ezku has a really interesting look - 6ft tall and an asymetric haircut that gave very different looks depending on which side you shot her from - and photographed really well, especially for an inexperienced model. I particularly liked the Mondrian dress she had - some of those images (especially the ones on the spiral staircase) look really 60s. ...

Katy – June 2019 (NSFW)

I don't photograph people that often, but it is something I do want to do more of - my main problem is finding someone to photograph (on top of having the time and/or inclination to do so!). I'd been aware of Katy as a model for a while, via Purpleport, and earlier last year I recognised from some of her photos that she'd moved into a flat just round the corner from the office. I got in touch and we arranged a shoot. We had a really good shoot - she has a great look (and fantastic eyes) and is versatile.I'm very pleased with how the images worked out - especially the ones against the brightly coloured picture. ...

Aust, January 2020

We had a particularly frosty Saturday night during January, so I thought I'd head down to Aust to see how it looked. The biggest surprise was that it actually looked very different - they'd knocked down the old ticket office, leaving just a wall and the turnstile.A bit of research shows that South Gloucestershire Council had consulted on, and approved, some changes to make the site safer and more secure, and to discourage some anti-social behaviour. There are more changes to come, but hopefully I'll still be able to access the site and take more photos. Back to the visit - the frost was pretty spectacular, and while I was there the sun started to burn it off. ...

France 2019

We'd been to the same gite in SW France for the last 4 holidays, but this time we booked late and it wasn't available. The one we went for this time was a bit more expensive, but absolutely lovely - and huge for the two of us, given that it can accommodate 16 people! The gite was booked via Halcyon Leisure - we've booked with them since 2000. We really didn't do very much at all - I took a couple of trips out to take photos in Fumel and at Chateau Bonaguil, but that was about it apart from going out to buy food and wine. The first set of photos are from the gite, with a couple from one of the trips out. The second set are images of the sky.Disappointingly we didn't have many good sunsets at all - just in the last half of the second week. Mind you, the main reason for the lack of them was because there...
