Bristol 2022, part 1

Yes, 2022. I realised that I blogged absolutely nothing last year, so I'm going to make up for that. It was a strange year - I was made redundant in April, although the process started the previous November and my departure was confirmed in February, and I started a new job in late September - and I didn't really do that much photography. And it has to be said that what I did do wasn't anything special, to be honest a lot of it was probably therapeutic as the redundancy process wasn't enormously pleasant. Blaise I spent a fair bit of time in the first part of the year walking around Blaise Estate in Bristol, close to home - I needed to get out and get some form of exercise. Most of these were taken in January and February, with a few in spring/early summer - it's probably quite easy to tell which as the winter ones are quite bleak, cold, dark and muddy....

Autumn 2021 part 1 – Blaise and Westbury Court

These two sets come from the tail end of the summer and early autumn. After the photos I took at Cumberland Basin at the end of April, I didn't take any photos (other than a few on my phone, mainly food) until the end of August when I forced myself out to Blaise Estate, which is only really at the end of the road but which I've hardly visited. This trip out was also an opportunity to try out my latest camera - an Agfa Synchro Box from the 1950s. 1 shutter speed, two aperture settings, a very simple lens and a basic viewfinder. To be honest, the results weren't great - these are the best two, and they're not much to write home about. Blaise

Considering we've been in our current house for 6 years or so, it's amazing that we've never been to Blaise - it's about 5 minutes away. Anyway, on Friday afternoon we went for a wander with our neighbour to see what elderberries and blackberries there were - quite a lot as it turned out. There's a whole lot more of the estate that we'll have to go back and look at as we only really touched on one corner, including St Mary's Church. ...
